Within easy walking distance in Kirkwall is the main street with its many gift shops, together with St Magnus Cathedral and Tankerness House Museum with the Earl's and Bishop's Palaces nearby.  It is also near the travel centre, the harbour, the marina and waterfront, leisure centre (with cinema), internet café, restaurants, pubs and supermarkets, with a full sized golf course and open countryside just beyond.
